Christmas Feet

Top tips for the party season:

Why is it so important to look after your feet come Christmas time - particularly as you still want them to look sexy in winter?

Winter is the season for cold feet, icy conditions and wrapping up warm. It is also the time of sparkle and fun with parties, dances and entertaining. Through this festive period it is important to look after your feet. In our busy lives transforming a day outfit into an evening outfit is often a change of top and stepping into some glamorous high heels. Thus feet need to be prepared to go from practical boots to high octane glamour in an instant.

What are your tips for preparing your feet for the party season - is there anything you should do on a daily basis?

Keep your feet in ready to go condition with regular pedicures even through the winter months. A good pedicure is not just a lick of nail polish it transforms feet and nourishes the thicker skin on the sole of the feet. At Supplefeet the PodPed™ is the perfect way to beautiful feet. The paraffin wax treatment warms tired feet and nourishes the skin.

Have a fabulous pedicure with a gorgeous deep purple or flame red. Then ask your pedicurist to add some bling and/or nail art for a really fab effect.

Dancing the night away can take its toll on your feet, so do take a look at dance shops and the shoes; great styles, heel heights and shoes designed to actually dance in. We promise that you will go in for a black pair and come out with something far brighter!

Miss Supple top tip: Buy your high heels from Dance shops. Embrace your “Strictly” side and waltz away in salsa, tango or ballroom dance shoes. All they need is an outside sole put on by a cobbler to protect the soft leather underside and you are fit to go!

Don't wear open toed shoes for long periods of time, outside in the winter. Wear your boots to the party and change into your party shoes there. Remember Susannah and Trinny's tip which is to not wear socks on the day of the party to avoid those tell tale marks.

What problems should you be aware of when wearing high heels? And what are the solutions?

Try to keep very high heel wearing for no more than six hours and don't walk any distances in them (some shoes are for “limo travel” only) Prolonged use of high heels can hurt as there is so much extra pressure placed on the front of the foot. You can offset this by buying into the modern Gladiator sandals for high heel wear. There is more support on the front of the foot and the thick platform sole helps along with the open toes as the foot is not squashed in. We are only saying it helps! The next day wear your MBT’s to undo some of the damage of high heels; more about them in the next issue of foot monthly.

Is there any insole I can wear to help?

At Supplefeet we stock the wonderful 9to5 insole® that is perfect for improving the comfort of your highest high heels. They are super slim and help transfer the weight in the shoe away from the front. Not a cure but we know many women now who can only wear the heels they love with their 9to5’s! And: keep some clear blister plasters at hand for emergency care you never can tell where that blister will come but don’t let it ruin your night.

Miss Supple Top Tip: Plan not to be the one dancing barefoot because you have to.

What footcare advice do you have on returning from a party?

Kick of the high heels, scrub your feet really clean as any dirt left on overnight contributes to hard skin formation. Massage in lots of nourishing foot cream, we recommend CCS cream. Then massage the arch of the foot by rolling it over a tennis ball. Better still get your partner to rub your feet for you!
