foot monthly

January 09
Hello

Welcome to January's edition of Foot Monthly; our monthly newsletter keeping you up-to-date on all the latest foot products and treatments. Please add footmonthly@supplefeet.com to your address book to ensure you receive our newsletter.

This month we look at the new range of comfort shoes available, MBTs, Fitflops, Crocs, Uggs etc. all extraordinary styles and real revolutions in shoe design. I have also had a look at running, how natural it is for us and how many benefits there are. For those planning to run the London marathon in April, we have gleaned some tips from the World Record holder himself; apparently it is all about mind over matter! Also this month I was delighted to see my words of wisdom on feet take a whole page in Easy Living, the Jan issue.

I have also started a blog this month at emmasupple.blogspot.com with details of choosing shoes in the January sales. Let me know what you think.

If you have any foot problems you would like answering then please get in touch, or why not book an appointment to see our podiatrists at our Enfield clinic , 020 8367 9292. I hope you enjoy this issue.

Wishing you and your feet a Happy New Year!

Kind Regards,
emma supple

A look at the benefits of running

As the foot experts our aim is to get you walking pain free. We also work with you to get you running and as the London Marathon approaches again (Sat 26th April 2009) you may be taking part or using it as the impetus to get you moving.

It is natural to run. It is not simply a learnt skill, it is part of life itself. Running brings rewards beyond the triumph of the finishing line. I have never been a fast runner but running is part of our lives. In this age of long life and obesity we need to keep moving.
“We need to eat, to rest but we also need to run.”

Runners always say that if you run you will see a difference between your life with running and without it. With running, they say, you are productive and you give your brain the time and the chance to create new things.

The Pain of High Heels

I have a male friend who has no sympathy for women who wear heels, then complain about the pain. “Take a Nurofen”, he says advocating a Limo lifestyle, never having to walk far himself in high heels.

He has a point but those of us who wear stilettos know that we like them and like the effect they have on our legs! They make us sway, feel thinner and sexier than without them, a powerful combination.

Latest Foot Products - Medical Crocs Rx

The Medical Crocs are an advance on the amazingly successful originals. Whole families wear them, kids and adults alike. With specialised material that is reported to be anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and odour resistant with silver technology.  The designers have named the new range OrthoCloud; another great name for a shoe. These shoes are so comfortable, great for wide feet and with a supportive but cushioning sole that really improves the comfort. Podiatrists and foot experts are now prescribing these in the management of heel pain, diabetic feet and many other foot conditions.

The new ladies shoe (The Silver Fox™) looks and feels great.  It is an ultra light shoe with a well formed heeled wedge. Made from one part it looks more like a normal shoe and has a strap to hold them securely on your feet. They are very comfortable.

A note of caution is that whilst they are made of special plastic with special properties they will make feet hot and the real tip here is to buy the real thing as the many copies are just cheap plastic shoes and will make your feet cook.

Shoe of the Month - the Comfortable range

Whilst the high heels are in competition to be the highest and most difficult to wear, the comfortable shoe designers have been busy. CrocsRx, Birkenstocks, Ugg boots, MBTs and FitFlops.

New to the market is the Winter Fitflop® charmingly called the Billow®. MBTs are still my shoe of choice to get moving in as they are so marvellous at engaging the core muscles and as a busy Mum of three I need all the fitness time saving devices available to me.

I want to start a campaign that any woman wearing a skirt suit be banned from wearing trainers! At least put on a pair of MBTs to show you understand how feet really work and get a core stability workout at the same time!
